How to start Sole Trader Business

This is the cheapest option to set-up and the easiest to administer.

1. Decide whether to trade under your own name or a business name. You will have to apply and register business name with the Consumer Affairs.

2. Apply for ABN - As a sole trader, if you carry on an enterprise in Australia, you must apply for an ABN for your business and use this number for all your business dealings.

3. GST Registration - You can apply for registration on the ABN application form. You must be registered for GST if your annual GST turnover is $75,000 or more.
